Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Improvise (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Improvise mobile app and improviseapp.net.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you register or sign in, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication data needed to secure your account. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive what those providers share per your choices on their screens.
Training and progress data
We store XP, rank, streaks, completed scenarios, daily challenge progress, achievements, referral activity, subscription status, and related training statistics.
Journal and Real Life content
If you use Real Life Mode or the Journal, we store text you submit, optional moods and tags, and AI-generated insights when you request analysis. Do not submit information you are not comfortable storing and processing as described here.
Device and technical data
We may collect app version, platform, coarse product analytics events, and local caches for offline use. We do not intentionally collect precise location, contacts, photos, or microphone data for core app features.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to operate the app: authenticate you, sync progress, run scenarios and leaderboards, process referrals and subscriptions, store journal entries, deliver AI analysis when requested, improve reliability, and respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Where data is stored
Cloud data is stored on infrastructure operated by Supabase. AI requests are processed on our backend before calling third-party AI APIs.
A copy of your profile and progress may be cached on your device for speed and brief offline use. Auth sessions remain on your device until you sign out.
4. AI and third-party services
We use service providers that process data only as needed to run Improvise:
| Provider | Purpose | Typical data |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Auth, database, sync, server functions | Account, profile, progress, journal entries |
| Anthropic | AI analysis (Real Life & Journal, when you request it) | Text you submit for analysis |
| RevenueCat | Improvise Pro subscriptions | Purchase and entitlement identifiers |
| Apple / Google | Sign-in and store purchases | Per their policies when you use their services |
| PostHog | Product analytics | Screen paths and coarse events — not journal body, Real Life text, email, or passwords |
Product analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog to understand feature usage (for example sign-up completion, scenario completion, and paywall views) so we can improve the app. Events use categories and length bands rather than full text of sensitive submissions. When enabled, events may be linked to your user ID for funnel and retention analysis.
Each provider has its own privacy policy.
5. What other users can see
On the leaderboard, other signed-in users may see your display name, XP, and streak. We do not show your email, journal entries, or Real Life analyses to other users.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
6. Your choices and rights
- Display name: Update in App Settings.
- Notifications: Manage in device settings.
- Subscriptions: Manage via the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign out: Ends the session on your device.
- Delete account: Available in App Settings to request removal of cloud profile data.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing. Contact us to make a request.
7. Data retention
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, and resolve disputes. After account deletion, we delete or anonymize cloud profile data per our procedures, except where retention is required by law or app stores.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure.
9. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data.
10. International users
Your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate. By using Improvise, you understand it may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data protection rules.
